Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell is an American chef-turned-tv personality, and former instructor in the Institute of Culinary Education. The host of her show is Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. The spiky blond hair and bubbly appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of food in restaurants and shares simple, easy-to-master recipes for the at-home cook on her Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has worked in various top eateries that are located in New York, studied the cuisine and culture of Italy and competed on Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in the Upstate New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for culinary arts and food at very young. After earning an English and Communications degree from Canisius College in Buffalo NY she became interested in the world of food and restaurant management by enrolled as a student at The Culinary Institute of America. The Culinary Institute of America was an amazing learning experience for me. It was impossible to study or do enough. After graduating, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) while attending an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. It was during this time that her experience in Italy made her more aware and appreciate the Italian tradition and philosophy, and it has had an impression on her perception of food. Burrell is an ambassador for the celebrity chef in the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. Additionally, she has served on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which assists kids with disabilities. Her travels are frequent across the nation in her capacity as a mentor and guest speaker where she discusses her career and love of cooking. Anne has said throughout her culinary career that she's grateful being able to communicate with people what is most important to her.
