ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2nd, 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. They raised her along with her sisters, Jeni and Jeri, in the Los Angeles suburb of Diamond Bar. Morgan played a variety of sports throughout her childhood but she was not a fan of soccer until she reached 14. Morgan joined the Cypress Elite club team and took home the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. In addition, she placed third place in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan continued her education at Diamond Bar High School, where she honed her soccer abilities. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) selected Morgan to be an All-American Athlete. She was also a member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scorer from the beginning of her season. Morgan was instrumental in getting the team to the NCAA Tournament every year and twice into the second round. Morgan was one of four finalists in the Honda Sports Award. She also became the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. Upon graduating a semester at the beginning of 2010, Morgan was ranked third in the history of goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan played soccer at the collegiate and national levels throughout her education. In her first year with the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury which barred her from playing with the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April. In Mexico, Morgan scored her debut international soccer goal during the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan also participated in the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup with four goals, earning her team a gold medal, among other accolades.Morgan was then taken on by the national team's senior squad, where she was substituted, and scored several important goals. One of them was an important win goal against Italy that resulted in the U.S. a place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player in the team and was the one to lead it to victory against France. Morgan, despite U.S. losing to Japan in the final World Cup match, became the first American player to score a goal or assist.
